FAQs
Is therapy right for me?
Seeking out therapy is an individual choice. Working with a therapist can help provide insight, support, and new strategies for all types of life challenges. Therapy can help address many types of issues including depression, anxiety, grief, trauma and general life transitions. Therapy is right for anyone who is interested in getting the most out of their life by taking responsibility, creating greater self-awareness, and working towards change in their lives.
How long is the session, what does it cost and how do I pay?
Sessions are 50 minutes in length and cost $170 a session. Payment is accepted via credit or debit card at the beginning of the session. I use Ivy Pay, a HIPAA-secure app, to keep your card on file.
What does the initial session look like?
The first session is an opportunity for me to learn about you, what brought you to therapy and what some of your concerns may be. It is also an opportunity for you to see my working style and ask questions to better help you determine if you think we may be a good fit to work together.
Do you accept insurance?
I am an out of network provider, which means I do not accept insurance directly. However, your sessions may be covered under your out-of-network benefits with your insurance plan. If this is something you are interested in, I will provide you with a monthly receipt that you submit to your insurance company. If you have out of network benefits, they will reimburse you directly. All clients are required to pay the full fee upfront each session.
Please check your coverage carefully and contact your insurance company to see if this is an option for you. Some helpful questions to ask your insurance company are:
• What percentage is covered for out-of-network or non-participating providers?
• What is the coverage amount per therapy session?
• How many sessions per year will my health insurance cover?
• What is my deductible, and has it been met?
What if I need to cancel?
If there is a time where you need to cancel, please remember to cancel or reschedule 24 hours in advance. You will be responsible for the entire fee if cancellation is less than 24 hours prior to the scheduled appointment and the card on file will be charged accordingly.
Is therapy confidential?
In general, the law protects the confidentiality of all communications between a client and psychotherapist. No information is disclosed without prior written permission from the client. However, there are some exceptions required by law to this rule. Exceptions include:
• Suspected child abuse or dependent adult or elder abuse. I am required to report this to the appropriate authorities immediately.
• If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person. I am required to notify the police.
• If a client intends to harm himself or herself. I will make every effort to work with the individual to ensure their safety. However, if an individual does not cooperate, additional measures may need to be taken.
