FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Seeking out therapy is an individual choice. Working with a therapist can help provide insight, support, and new strategies for all types of life challenges. Therapy can help address many types of issues including depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, and general life transitions. Therapy is right for anyone who is interested in getting the most out of their life by taking responsibility, creating greater self-awareness, and working towards change in their lives.

  • Take your time to read through my website. If you sense that I may be a good fit based on what you are reading, you can email me. During a free phone consultation, you can ask me questions about my approach, what a typical session with me is like, or any other questions you may have that are specific-to-you. You’ll also be able to share what’s going on for you and we can decide together how I can help. It may be helpful to think of the first few sessions as trying out the waters together. During the sessions, you’ll be able to see how you feel working with me. My approach is not going to work for everyone. What’s most important to me is that you find someone who you feel is the right fit for you. We can explore that together.

  • Sessions are 50 minutes in length and cost $200 a session. Payment is accepted via credit or debit card at the beginning of the session. I use Ivy Pay, a HIPAA-secure app, to keep your card on file.

  • The first session is an opportunity for me to learn about you, what brought you to therapy and what some of your concerns may be. It is also an opportunity for you to see my working style and ask questions to better help you determine if you think we may be a good fit to work together.

  • I am an out of network provider, which means I do not accept insurance.

  • If there is a time where you need to cancel, please remember to cancel, or reschedule 24 hours in advance. You will be responsible for the entire fee if cancellation is less than 24 hours prior to the scheduled appointment and the card on file will be charged accordingly.

  • In general, the law protects the confidentiality of all communications between a client and psychotherapist. No information is disclosed without prior written permission from the client. However, there are some exceptions required by law to this rule. Exceptions include:

    • Suspected child abuse or dependent adult or elder abuse. I am required to report this to the appropriate authorities immediately.

    • If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person. I am required to notify the police.

    • If a client intends to harm himself or herself. I will make every effort to work with the individual to ensure their safety. However, if an individual does not cooperate, additional measures may need to be taken.

  • Under the law, as a healthcare provider, I will give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.

This estimate is called a "Good Faith Estimate" and explains how much your Therapy services will cost. Here are a few key things you should know about your Good Faith Estimate:

    • You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.

    • You may ensure that I give you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 3 business days before your Therapy services or item. You can also ask me for a Good Faith Estimate prior to scheduling.

    • If you receive a bill that is $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.

    • It's recommended that you save a copy of your Good Faith Estimate for your records.
